FPV drone or regular drone: what suits your video?

Drone footage has become part of company films, aftermovies and property videos. But a regular drone and an FPV drone produce very different footage. Which one suits your project?

The regular drone: calm and overview

A regular drone hovers stably and flies calmly. That is ideal for overview shots: a company site, a festival site, a building in its surroundings. We use the DJI Mini 3 Pro, among others, for this.

The FPV drone: dynamics and proximity

FPV stands for first-person view. The pilot flies through goggles as if sitting in the drone, so the drone can fly agile and close to the subject: through a building, along a route, around an object. That gives footage you cannot make with a regular drone or camera. We fly FPV with the DJI Avata 2.

Which one to choose?

  • Showing a location or building? Combine overview shots with an FPV flight through the space, as in our drone tour of Villa 23.
  • Capturing an event? A regular drone shows the scale, FPV brings you among the crowd or the action, as at WTC Racing Expo 2026.
  • Setting a product or mood? FPV can give a shot with its own character, but works best combined with footage on the ground.

Rules and safety

Drone filming is not allowed everywhere or at all times. The rules depend on the location and on what is below the drone, for example near homes, busy places or protected areas. So discuss this with your video producer in advance. We look with you at what is possible at your location.
